American authors and alcohol?

Well of coarse did not know them personally,but I would say as anyone else,life was just to heavy to handle,in what was ever going on in their lives,some may have just been so misunderstood,their thoughts ran to deep without explanation or one to talk to that got them. Sad,they would want to drown out life in this aspect.
