What does this qoute mean from the novel As I lay Dying by William Faulkner?

There is, I believe, a blank space between the word "a" and the word "and". The blank space indicates that whatever she intended to say or wanted to say was unspeakable, or unable to be represented by words, so it was represented by a blank space.
